Krishna was the 8th son of Devki and Vasudev. The birth of Krishna was a threat to his maternal uncle Kansa. The evil king, who learnt about Krishna and the threat, jailed Devki and Vasudev. After the birth of Krishna, Vasudev somehow smuggled the child handed the responsibility to his friend Nand in Gokul. As he grew up, Krishna enjoyed the love and pampering from two mothers – Devki and Yashoda. Both of them gave him great love. The day when Krishna was born is said to be miraculous and it is celebrated by Hindus worldwide.

How we celebrate this most famous festival?

On the day of Krishna Janmashtami kids are dressed up as Khanna, Radha, and Gopis. While some play dahi handi, some of them observe a fast. Janamashtami is always so fun for me and my sister and her son and daughter. Shopping for our kanha, setting the jhula and dressing up her kids into Radha and Krishna, always so beautiful feeling.
